VoicePad on Android: getting started and everyday use

VoicePad on Android turns speech into text using a model on your phone. After setup, you can dictate inside the app, use the floating Orb or choose the VoicePad keyboard where supported.

Start your first note

  1. Install VoicePad from Google Play.
  2. Open the app and allow microphone access.
  3. Complete setup and select the language you will speak.
  4. Wait until the speech model is ready.
  5. Tap the main mic orb, speak a sentence, then tap again to stop.
  6. Review and copy the result.

Choose a workflow

  • In-app dictation: record and review a note inside VoicePad.
  • Floating Orb: record over another app, then paste the completed text. It needs Android’s overlay permission.
  • VoicePad Direct keyboard: enable VoicePad in Android’s keyboard settings and select it in an editable field.
  • Hot Word: enable the local listener and complete its model download before testing a wake phrase.

Manage your text

Open History to search and read earlier notes. Long-press or open the card menu for available actions. The documented Android gestures include swiping left to delete and pulling down to refresh after sync.

The mobile Clean tool removes filler words. This is separate from the desktop Ollama AI Tools. Check the result before copying or sharing it.

Models and storage

Base is the Help Center’s starting recommendation. Tiny and Small can be downloaded where offered. Keep enough space for the model and app data; use the storage dashboard if your build includes it.

Optional controls

Settings can offer sound and haptic feedback, themes and the Activity screen. Activity calculates usage locally. Features and limits can vary with your version and entitlement.

Move notes to a computer

Use local WiFi sync with Windows or macOS. Android-to-Windows USB transfer is another documented option. Export important notes before reinstalling or clearing app data.

Trial and Pro

Check the app’s upgrade screen for your trial, purchase or Founding Member entitlement. Restore access using the account or purchase method that applies to you.
