Start with a short note to check that your language, microphone and model are ready. VoicePad runs speech recognition on your device.
Your first dictation
- Open VoicePad. Complete the first-launch setup and allow microphone access.
- Check the language. Choose the language you will speak in Settings. The documented supported dictation languages are English and German.
- Check the model. Wait until the selected speech model is ready. Complete any required initial download while connected.
- Tap the main mic orb. Speak a sentence at your normal pace.
- Tap again to stop. Wait for processing to finish, then review your transcript.
Use your text
Copy the finished transcript and paste it into a note, email or document. If automatic copying is enabled in your app, the text will already be on your clipboard.
Make the next dictation easier
- Use a quiet setting for your first test.
- Try spoken punctuation such as “comma” or “new paragraph”.
- On Windows, check your configured recording shortcut in Settings → Hotkeys.
- For dictation in another app, choose the Orb or Direct workflow supported by your platform.
Once this short test works, try a longer note in your normal working environment.
