How do I use VoicePad Direct?

VoicePad Direct inserts dictated text into an editable field in another app. Choose the instructions for your platform: Android uses a keyboard workflow, while the documented desktop workflow uses the floating Orb.

Windows

  1. Open Settings → Dictation → VoicePad Orb and enable VoicePad Direct.
  2. Open the app where you want to write.
  3. Tap the Orb, then click your target text field during the selection window.
  4. Speak and review the text as it appears.
  5. Tap the Orb again to end the session.

macOS

  1. Open Settings → Float Orb → VoicePad Direct.
  2. Allow VoicePad in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility when requested.
  3. Tap the Orb, click an editable field and dictate.
  4. Tap the Orb again to stop.

Android

  1. Enable the VoicePad keyboard in Android’s on-screen keyboard settings.
  2. Open a text field and select VoicePad from the keyboard switcher.
  3. Tap the keyboard microphone and speak.
  4. Tap again to stop and review the inserted text.

Choose an editable target

A document body or message field can accept text. An image, menu or read-only PDF cannot. If text is copied to the clipboard instead, paste it into an editable field.

iOS

The Help Center does not document an equivalent iOS Direct setup. Use in-app dictation and copy your text unless your installed build provides its own supported instructions.
