Main screen and footer guide

VoicePad’s main screen brings recording, your transcript, history and settings together. Use this guide to find the controls before starting a longer dictation.

The main mic orb

  • Idle: tap or click the mic to begin.
  • Recording: the mic changes appearance while VoicePad captures your voice. Tap again to stop.
  • Processing: wait for transcription to finish before using the result.

Colours and progress indicators can vary with your theme and app version. The mic inside the main window is separate from the floating VoicePad Orb.

The transcript area

Your recognised text appears here. Review names, numbers and punctuation, then copy it into the app where you need it. Text can arrive in processed chunks; it may not appear immediately after each spoken word.

On supported Pro builds, you can edit or type in this area and save a note. The separate text-editor guide explains that workflow.

History and Settings

  • History: open the left sidebar to find earlier dictations, search their text and manage entries.
  • Settings: open the settings panel to choose your language, speech model, appearance and supported sync options.
  • Email: export the current text and prepare it for your mail app.
  • Import: bring a supported document into the transcript area.
  • Save Note: save typed or edited text to history where available.
  • Tools: show or hide the local AI toolbar.

Available controls depend on your platform, version and Pro access.

Closing the Windows window

Closing the window can leave VoicePad running in the system tray so its recording shortcut stays available. To fully quit, open the tray icon’s menu and choose Exit.
