iOS troubleshooting: app startup and missing history

If VoicePad on iOS closes during startup or a dictation is missing, start with a short test and protect any existing notes before removing the app.

If the app closes on launch

  1. Close VoicePad from the app switcher, then reopen it.
  2. Allow the initial speech-model setup to finish where required.
  3. Check the App Store for an update.
  4. Restart the device if the problem continues, then try again.

Note whether the problem occurs immediately, during model loading or only when recording begins.

If a note does not appear in History

  1. Keep VoicePad visible for a short test recording.
  2. Stop with the mic button and wait for transcription to finish.
  3. Open History and check for the test note.
  4. Reopen the app and check whether the entry remains.

The Help Center mentions history issues in early builds. Use the current App Store update, but do not assume updating guarantees recovery of a note that was never saved.

If microphone access is denied

Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable VoicePad if it appears. If it is missing, open VoicePad and start recording to check whether iOS requests permission.

Before reinstalling

Export important history and copy any unsaved transcript elsewhere. Removing an app can remove its local data. Do not use reinstalling as the first step when notes need to be preserved.
