VoicePad doesn't hear me — what do I do?

If VoicePad records silence or does not pick up your voice, check microphone permission and input first. Start with a short recording inside the app before testing the Orb or hands-free controls.

Allow microphone access

  • Windows: open Windows microphone privacy settings. Allow microphone access and access for desktop apps where applicable.
  • Android: Settings → Apps → VoicePad → Permissions → Microphone.
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → VoicePad.
  • macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → VoicePad. Quit and reopen VoicePad if prompted.

Check the microphone itself

  1. Test a short recording in another recording app.
  2. If that is also silent, check the microphone connection, mute switch and system input settings.
  3. Return to VoicePad and select the intended input device if your build offers a selector.
  4. Reconnect an external microphone or headset, then test again.

If quiet speech is missed

Move closer to the microphone and test in a quiet room. Adjust the sensitivity control gradually if available. Some controls represent a detection threshold, so use the label and test the effect rather than assuming that moving the slider upward increases sensitivity.

Still stuck?

Restart the app and check for an update. Contact support with your platform, app version, microphone type and whether recording works in another app. Avoid reinstalling before protecting any local history you need.
