How do I sync between Windows and Android/iOS?
VoicePad syncs your dictations across all your devices over your local WiFi — **no cloud, no servers, no IP addresses to configure.** Auto-discovery via mDNS finds your devices for you.
**What syncs:**
- ✅ Transcription text
- ✅ Timestamps, word counts, durations
- 🔜 Personal dictionary (coming soon)
- 🔜 Settings (coming soon)
- ❌ Audio (never — stays on the device that recorded it)
**Setup on Windows:**
1. Open VoicePad Windows → Settings → Mobile Sync
2. Toggle WiFi Sync **ON**
3. Allow VoicePad through Windows Firewall if prompted (port 7777)
**Setup on Android:**
1. Open VoicePad Android → Settings → Sync
2. Toggle WiFi Sync **ON**
3. Wait 10–30 seconds — devices find each other automatically
**Setup on iOS:**
Same as Android. Settings → Sync → WiFi Sync → ON.
**Two critical requirements:**
1. **Both devices on the same WiFi network.** Not mobile data. Not guest networks. Not 2.4GHz on one device and 5GHz on another (some routers separate these).
2. **Windows Firewall must allow VoicePad on port 7777.** If sync fails, this is usually why.
**Sync direction matrix:**
- ✅ Android ↔ Windows
- ✅ iPhone ↔ Windows
- ✅ iPhone ↔ macOS
- ✅ Android ↔ macOS
- ❌ Android ↔ iOS direct (not supported — bridge via Windows/Mac)
- ❌ Windows ↔ macOS direct (not supported)
**Pull dictations FROM Windows TO Android:**
Sometimes Windows has dictations your phone doesn't. On Android: Settings → Sync → **Import from Windows App**. Pulls everything missing.
