The offline grace period — what happens without internet?

Speech recognition runs locally, but Pro activation and license renewal use an internet connection. VoicePad caches your Pro entitlement so it can remain available during an offline period.

How the cached license works

The Help Center documents a Pro Token that is valid for seven days, followed by a three-day offline grace period after expiry. The time remaining depends on when this device last refreshed its token.

  • Valid token: the device keeps its cached Pro access.
  • Expired token within the grace period: Pro access continues temporarily.
  • Grace period ended: Pro access pauses until this device can validate its license again.

Before an extended offline period

  1. Connect the device you plan to use to the internet.
  2. Open VoicePad and check your license status.
  3. Complete any model downloads or updates you need.
  4. Make a short dictation before leaving.

Do not assume you have ten days remaining simply because you just disconnected: an older cached token may have less time left.

Restore Pro access

Reconnect the affected device and open VoicePad. If renewal does not complete, use Settings → License → Activate with your registered details. Renewing another device does not guarantee this device’s local token has refreshed.

Offline sync and AI Tools

Local WiFi sync needs a working local network. Desktop AI Tools need Ollama and their model installed locally. Neither requires cloud processing of your dictation.
