Development update — Windows: recording bar, themes, retention and language improvements

Windows test builds combine clearer recording and editing controls with improvements to themes, audio retention, language handling and reliability.

Recording and editing

  • Recording bar: a clearer layout with a central recording indicator and words-per-minute display.
  • Reader and History: clearer action placement, icons and deletion counts. Resumed dictations preserve their duration and process new words consistently.
  • Themes and accessibility: improved contrast, keyboard focus, control sizes, spacing and dialogs across Light, Dark and Frost.

Audio, language and reliability

  • Audio retention: choose how long dictation audio stays on the device and replay it from Reader while available. Safeguards protect recordings in use; Meeting/SubPad retention remains separate work.
  • Language handling: nine-language interface and dictation support use consistent language selection, with localized SubPad text, counts and email subjects.
  • Reliability: safer History and Settings saving, background reconciliation and shutdown handling, plus clearer microphone selection and shortcuts.

Availability

Development update — September–October 2026. These changes are integrated in test builds. Final checks and the matching public release versions and dates are still being verified; availability depends on the build.
