Development update — macOS: recording bar, interface and language improvements

The macOS test builds bring clearer recording controls, easier navigation and more consistent language selection.

Interface and recording improvements

  • Recording bar: a clearer layout with a central recording indicator and words-per-minute display.
  • Reader, History and Settings: clearer actions, icons, spacing, text, dialogs and microphone selection.
  • Accessibility: more consistent contrast, keyboard focus and control sizes.
  • Dictation language: dictation follows the selected language, while automatic detection keeps one language for the recording.

Nine-language work — 12 October 2026

The broader macOS language update is underway. Its development branch includes nine interface translations and flags, language choices in onboarding and Settings, and consistent dictation-language selection.

Formatting, remaining wording, broader language checks and release integration are still pending. Recording retention remains separate unfinished work.
