Development update — Android: recording bar, interface and dictation improvements

Android test builds improve recording controls, saved notes, accessibility and the consistency of dictation.

Clearer recording and editing

  • Recording bar: clearer start, recording and processing states. A rapid second tap cannot start another session.
  • Larger text and screen readers: the recording bar adapts to larger text and announces its state. Reader, History and Settings have clearer headers, accessible rows and editing fields, and better keyboard spacing.
  • Saving notes: unchanged notes keep their text and recording information. Failed saves report the problem, and Clear All uses the count shown in its confirmation.
  • Playback and audio clearing: failures are reported rather than appearing successful.

More reliable dictation

  • Clearer errors when microphone access is refused, storage is full or the speech model fails.
  • Consistent stopping from the bar, tile, notification and floating control.
  • Startup work runs in the background, and the recording crash in the minified Android build is repaired.
  • Trial-status handling is repaired. Voice Commands can be switched off even when the hot-word model is unavailable.
  • Selected-language handling is more consistent across recording controls and the keyboard. Guarded corrections avoid replacing text inside words.

Availability

Development update — September–October 2026. These changes are integrated in test builds. Final checks and the matching public release versions and dates are still being verified; availability depends on the build.
